"Z food across the world" is a program of performances taking
place in different countries, where I express my point of view about some
local food customs.

Cardiff, 18/2/1995
The global structure of the performance is
similar in all countries.A large video screen and an oven are required on
stage. After a short presentation come four sequences:
- Video documentation, commented live, of experiences with local food, and
selected shots of the former stages of the project.
Cybernetic parrot sausage, Osnabrück 11/9/96
- Live operation on some local speciality
- Songs about the different foods encountered during the former stages of
"Z food across the world", where I sing and play the
zitare.
- Distribution to the audience of portions of a special cake that was reheated
on stage during the performance. The cake is a customization of a local
recipe, and is served with wine.
Customized appeltaart, Arnhem 14/11/1995
The reheating and serving of the cake are generally assured by local
young persons wearing a Z badge, called the Z girls or boys.

The project was officially launched on February 18th 1995 during the Cardiff
Art in Time Festival (UK). For this premiere, called "It is not a piece
of cake", I selected as objects of experience two industrial cakes
purchased in a local bakery, the synthetic doughnut
and the cherry pie, the latter being
the subject of an original song.

The second stage, titled "It is not a piece of taart" happened
in Arnhem, Netherlands, on November 14th 1995 during the AVE Festival (audio
visueel experimenteel). There I chose as an interesting food speciality, the Automatiek, vending machines of
hamburgers and other strange krokett.

The third stage of this international project, titled "Ce soir pas de gâteau" (No cake tonight) happened on April 18th 1996
in Nîmes (France). I composed on stage a meat free steak using strawberry
jelly and brandade de morue, a local whitish spread paste mainly made of
cod.
Then a synthetic doughnut exploded on stage, and everybody felt well relaxed.
The fourth stage, "Wurstchen" was programmed as the opening of the EMAF festival in Osnabrück, Germany, 11/9/1996. I had been lent for this venue a sausage maker by a good friend of mine, that I used on stage to make a european sausage. I also built, using local resources, a cyber parrot sausage.
