Z Lab reports.
Program: the fluffy tamagotchi.

State of the project at April 28th 1998

April saw a good advance in the tamagotchi project. On the picture above, the finalised cables and breakbox, the hide of the teddy bear and the shit pump are clearly visible. An on board audio amplifier was added, and a prototype of control panel was completed. The latter is fitted with an infra red person detector.

The prospect of the first public presentation of the fluffy tamagotchi speeded up these improvements. On tuesday april 28th I drove the beast to Chapter Arts Center (Cardiff), where I took part in a talk about digital arts, organised by the association b10c. In front of an audience of about 30 people, the fluffy tamagotchi produced its first ever shit (washing up liquid + blue food colouring). The reception was good. Pictured above is the set of this talk, with a not too happy fluffy and the 2 control computers.

The future developments will see the addition of a feed function, the making of a cut to measure fluffy skin (as the teddy bear's originally planned doesn't fit), and shit removal trolley. The tamagotchi engine and vocabulary have to be improved, as is the code for the person sensing.
